The Midi

Midi skirts from Metalicus and how to wear the trend on Styled by Sasha
For a little while now I’ve been thinking about the midi skirt and how it applies to me and my personal style.
Whilst I’ve always loved the look on the statuesque Amazonian-types I frequently see in the industry, it took me a while to convince myself that I could pull it off.

With Melbourne (hopefully) coming to the end of this seemingly incessant cold snap, it only seems appropriate that I start focusing my attention on the spring wardrobe; and coming into spring, midi skirts’s are the perfect addition to the wardrobe to help ease your pins out of those pants.

When wearing something with a fuller skirt (like the Metalicus “Kahlo” skirt pictured above), it’s usually a good idea to try and balance the volume out by wearing something form-fitting on top. Whether this is a fitted crop or a tailored top that’s tucked into the skirt, it’s important to emphasise the waist.
Generally speaking, I would also suggest wearing a sandal or a pump that exposes the top of the foot to create the illusion of more length, but I just can’t get past a mule at the moment!
One rule is certain for those of us that are vertically challenged: avoid the flat.
I’m loving the cutout detailing of the Jonathan Simkai cropped knit pictured above, paired with the relative simplicity of the skirt, it offsets the look perfectly. And paired with some effortless yet exciting accessories, you’re sure to make an impression on anyone you come across!
